Ms. Granfield served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Randal C. Chiocca, J.S.C. in the Civil Division of the Passaic County Superior Court from 2017-2018. While serving as Law Clerk, Ms. Granfield provided legal research and produced legal memoranda regarding substantive motions, assisted in the daily activities in Chambers, observed trials and oral arguments, and acted as a mediator for landlord/tenant and small claims cases.
Ms. Granfield held summer internship positions with General Electric’s corporate headquarters, where she worked in their Global Patent Operations sector. At GE, she organized and tracked the status of up to fifty patent applications using internal databases and the United States Patent and Trademark database and communicated directly with inventors worldwide.
Ms. Granfield’s pro bono activities included the Women in Prison Project and the Adult Correctional Institutions Civil Legal Clinic Project, where she provided civil legal advice to medium-security inmates at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections. Ms. Granfield also acted as a legal extern for Rhode Island’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), and for the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CTVLS). While at EOHHS, she sat in on administrative hearings involving varying topics, and assisted in research and drafting decisions issued by the hearing officer. While at CTVLS, she researched and composed her findings regarding veterans’ benefits, discharge upgrades, and veteran interactions with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
