Ronit D. Appel, Associate
Ronit D. Appel concentrates her practice in litigation, corporate law, and real estate, with a special focus on real estate litigation and cross-border litigation and dispute resolution.
Ms. Appel spent a year working at Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein, Israel’s leading international law firm. There she worked on complex commercial litigation matters as well as cross-border product liability actions. Ms. Appel also worked in the firm's corporate department, where she played an integral role in consummating the $300 million St. Jude Medical acquisition of MediGuide Inc. as well as other multi-million dollar transactions.
Ms. Appel earned her LL.B. degree cum laude from the Radzyner School of Law at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, one of Israel's finest law schools. She was an Editorial Board Member of the school’s Law Review and a Teaching and Research Assistant for a Senior Lecturer of International Law. During the course of her law studies, Ms. Appel lectured at the Heinrich Heine University Faculty of Law in Düsseldorf, Germany on the topic of International Sales Law. She has also lectured at the Radzyner School of Law on the topic of medical malpractice in Israeli law. As an Argov Fellow in Leadership and Diplomacy, Ms. Appel traveled to numerous cities worldwide to meet with leading governmental officials, legal scholars, and business people. During the summer following her third year of law school, Ms. Appel clerked for Judge Milton A. Tingling of New York State Supreme Court.
Ms. Appel’s representative matters include acting as co-counsel in a real estate development rights dispute between Madison 96th Associates, LLC, a real estate development company, and 17 East 96th Owners Corp., a residential cooperative building located at 17 East 96th Street. Ms. Appel represents lenders, including Bank of America, N.A., in residential and commercial foreclosure actions.
Ms. Appel is co-author of "Are E-Mail Signatures in New York Real Estate Transactions Legally Binding Yet?", published in the October 2009 edition of the New York Real Estate Law Reporter. Ms. Appel is also co-author of "Sophisticated User Defense Gains Acceptance", published in the May 2009 edition of Product Liability Law & Strategy.
Ms. Appel is admitted to practice law in New York and Israel, and is bilingual in English and Hebrew.
