New York | Chicago

Welcome to our Firm.

Visit with our attorneys and practices.

We take pride in our lawyers’ good judgment, creative thinking and commitment to client needs. Our lawyers are nationally respected. We welcome your most difficult problems.

We are a boutique firm with offices in New York and Chicago.

Founded in 1969, we represent businesses ranging in size from Fortune 50 public corporations to small, privately held companies, partnerships and individuals. We concentrate our legal services in the areas of complex litigation, employment, real estate, trusts and estates, business law, and private client services.

We speak the same language as our clients.

Our clients value business efficient results – and so do we. Our partners have national reputations for the quality of their work. We welcome long-term relationships with our corporate clients. We invest the time and effort needed to learn the company’s culture and business goals, so that our work best fits what our clients require. We give practical, action-oriented advice to help client reduce business and litigation risks. We value early assessment, strategic planning and practical advice that target the results that our clients want.

We are a certified majority women-owned firm.

Our lawyers are diverse, with men and women at all levels of the firm and in every practice. We regularly work with and sometimes against the best lawyers in the country and we are happy to have our work product and our results compared with theirs.

We make this commitment to our clients and the legal profession:

We owe our clients complete loyalty and absolute candor. We owe our colleagues, including our adversaries, the respect, courtesy and understanding that people doing their best at a difficult task deserve. We owe the public and ourselves professional conduct that is ethical, fundamentally fair and above reproach. We owe the rule of law, without which there is no civilization, our best efforts to understand it and increase its power to impose order on human affairs with minimal restriction of liberty.

We value efficiency.

We leverage our small firm culture with flexible alliances that benefit our clients without burdening them with inefficient or unnecessary lawyering. We can team with other firms to provide a unique “virtual firm” for particular client needs. We emphasize budget certainty and welcome risk-sharing. We avoid high minimum billing requirements and the high fees and lawyer burn-out that those standards entail. We maximize opportunities for lawyer growth and learning that result in meaningful client counseling.

Our lawyers enjoy the respect of their peers.

The Firm includes four former federal law clerks, two former Assistant U.S. attorneys, a former Assistant District Attorney and multiple partners with trial and appellate experience. Some of our lawyers have doctoral degrees and advanced degrees in business. We stay on the cutting edge of emerging legal issues, and are frequent authors of professional publications and invited speakers at CLE programs.

Our partners hold leadership roles in local and national bar associations. Members of the Firm have served as President of the National Association of Women Lawyers, chairs of the American Bar Association’s Products Liability Committee (Section of Litigation), members of the Executive Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, chairs of the Real Property Law Committee of the ABCNY, chair of the Committee on the Judiciary of the ABCNY, and Board members of other local, state and national bar groups. These activities benefit our clients with respected relationships at national and regional levels among the defense and plaintiffs’ bar.
