Stephanie A. Scharf Spearheads NAWL National Survey of Women in Law Firms
November 17, 2008
Stephanie A. Scharf led the annual survey conducted by the National Association of Women Lawyers on the status of women in the nation’s 200 largest firms and survey report, which was released on November 17. The annual survey collects and analyzes objective data from the nation’s 200 largest firms on careers of women lawyers in private practice. This year’s survey offers statistics on relative compensation and leadership roles of women in firms, along with insights on a new type of partnership structure, the “mixed tier” firm; data on the effect that lateral hiring has on women partners; and data on the difficulties faced by women of color.
Ms. Scharf founded and designed the NAWL survey which is conducted annually under the auspices of NAWL and the NAWL Foundation.
