Firm Opens Chicago Office

In a major growth initiative, Schoeman, Updike & Kaufman, LLP, announced on February 28, 2007, the opening of an office in Chicago. In opening the Chicago office, named partner Beth Kaufman stated: "The Firm will continue to emphasize alternative fee arrangements for corporate clients, flexible work time in order to tap into highly skilled lawyers who wish a different life style than large firms typically allow, and teaming with other firms in order to parlay the benefits of small firm culture into representation on large matters."

The Chicago office will enhance the Firm's strong practice in complex commercial litigation, product liability defense, toxic tort defense and insurance coverage for corporate policyholders. While the initial focus of the Chicago office is on litigation, the Firm anticipates also expanding its real estate, business law and trusts and estates practice to Chicago.

The new office will be headed by Stephanie Scharf, formerly a partner at Jenner & Block LLP and former President of the National Association of Women Lawyers. The Firm will do business in Chicago under the name of Schoeman Updike Kaufman & Scharf.
