Norman L. Greene Organizes Conference on Judicial Reform at Fordham Law School
Norman Greene organized a full-day conference on April 8, 2008, entitled Enhancing Judicial Independence, Accountability, and Selection for the State Court Judiciary: A Program for Reform at Fordham Law School. The conference was sponsored by the Sandra Day O’Connor Project on the State of the Judiciary at Georgetown University Law Center (www.law.georgetown.edu/judiciary), The Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics at Fordham Law School, and nine other distinguished sponsors, including bar associations, educational and court reform and research organizations. United States Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (ret.) and Justice Stephen Breyer both spoke at the program. In addition to the remarks by the Justices, the event presented four panels on bias and the judiciary, business and the courts, judicial performance review and selection, and civic education. Since the date of the conference, Mr. Greene has organized several working groups to develop recommendations in line with the conference themes.
