Partner Stephanie Scharf Moderates Illinois Supreme Court CLE Program

On July 19, 2007, Stephanie Scharf moderated the NAWL program "Appellate Advocacy in Illinois: Best Practices for Written and Oral Argument." Panelists included Illinois Supreme Court Justices Rita B. Garman and Anne M. Burke, Illinois Solicitor General Gary S. Feinerman, and practitioners Michele L. Odorizzi and Jean M. Prendergast. The program addressed the strategy and tactics of appeals, factors in pursuing an appeal, the best ways to frame effective written appellate arguments, which types of oral arguments are persuasive and which are not, the role of an amicus brief, and what are best practices for appellate advocates.
